Summary:
The University of Notre Dame acquired a Ka-W band FMCW scanning radar system to enhance its existing W-band radar for hydrometeorological research. The dual-frequency system, combining the existing W-band radar with a new Ka-band radar, allows for improved retrieval of hydrometeor properties, including liquid water path and content, and particle size and shape. The system, delivered in June 2026, will be deployed in future field campaigns on air-sea interactions.
