A highlight of ‘Super Combo’ System developed at University of Notre Dame is that it employs a sensitive constant temperature hot-film anemometer system to measure turbulence down to its smallest (Kolmogorov K) scales on the order 1 mm in wind-varying atmosphere. Such measurements are imperative in fog-turbulence coupling research, given that fog droplets are hatched within the Kolmogorov scales. The Super Combo is a combination of the so called ‘Combo Probe’ that measures down to K scales and simultaneous probing of temperature fluctuations at the Batchelor-Obukhov-Corrsin scale using nanowire technology. With proper probes, AN-1003 can process fluid velocities ranging from 0 to 200 m s-1 and it has a user-oriented design, modularity and independent channels that can be removed or interchanged without disturbing others. It also has low noise (< 2.2 nV/ ), high frequency response (DC-550 kHz) and failure-safe switches.
